About the project
Mira App is an essential part of Mira Healthcare Management System, which is designed for caregivers to manage care, keep track of patients' conditions, allocate caregiving tasks, communicate with patients and deal with other tasks. Mira app can work as an independent app fulfilling the majority of caregivers' needs or be linked via bluetooth to Mira Watch for advanced functions. With Mira, caregivers can be more capable of caring for the patients while having more freedom to work on their own daily activities.

In-hospital research
In January 2017, I spent two weeks in Shanghai Zhong Shan Hospital observing, living and experiencing as a caregiver.
Interview caregivers and patients
We did a substantial amount of interviews, talking with patients, family members and medical professionals at Transplant House, surgery waiting rooms and the family caregiver center in the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania and Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
Ideation
Problem Framing and Needs identifying
After talking with patients and family caregivers, we realized that family caregivers are overburdened by the caregiving tasks while in the meantime, they have to deal with their own life. Family caregivers are under great pressure no less than the patients but they barely have means to let out. Based on the findings, we realized there are three ways to reduce their anxiety:
- Assist them in handling caregiving tasks
- Provide tools to monitor and communicate with patients
- Alert them in the case of emergency when they are away from the patients
