About the Project
This design serves as an alternative option for Sensel's rebranding project, which I managed from concept generation to execution. Using a series of abstract shapes, known as Sensel Logo 'derivatives', I aimed to refresh the brand image and introduce visual language for touch, force, and haptics, the core elements of Sensel's technological architecture.
To craft these abstract shapes, I utilized Blender to render designs that blur the line between 2D and 3D, balancing tactility and abstractness. This approach aligns with Sensel's mission to deliver rich, natural, and immersive touch experiences that seamlessly blend the digital and analog worlds. I am pleased with the final outcome, as it effectively captures the essence of Sensel's innovative technology.
The new graphics inherit and enhance Sensel's legacy color palette while maintaining color continuity. The color gradients, whether linear or freeform, serve as a visual metaphor for Sensel's force-sensing technology, enabling not only on-off sensing but also richer and more expressive touch input.
The spirit of the original logo's amorphous shape is preserved, conveying a message of being unbounded, while the curvy surface suggests a touch or multiple touches from below. By increasing the waviness of the surface, I effectively imbued the branding system with a sense of vibration and introduced the element of haptics, a technology which Sensel is actively developing but has not yet incorporated into its visual system.
Although the team ultimately decided to pursue a more rational and professional-looking design direction, as seen in this link, I still believe it is valuable to share this option with the audience. It demonstrates how touch technology can be romantic, expressive, and tactile, all qualities that Sensel is committed to achieving.

Inspiration
I drew inspiration from the color scheme of Sensel's visualizer app, as well as the original Sensel logo, to inform the design choices for this project.

Displayed below are the abstract objects that I created using Blender. These objects serve as the foundation for the new branding graphics and complement the overall branding system.
